Church Road, Caldicot has been the subject of significant public concern following the completion of the recent highway improvement scheme. Residents, businesses and road users have raised concerns regarding road safety, accessibility, traffic flow, visibility, maintenance standards and whether the completed works reflect the scheme originally presented during consultation and approval processes.
While substantial public funds have been invested in the project, many members of the community remain dissatisfied with the outcome and have expressed concerns that identified issues have not been adequately addressed.
This petition does not seek to predetermine the findings of any review. Rather, it calls for an independent assessment of the completed scheme, transparency regarding any differences between approved plans and delivered works, meaningful consultation with those affected, and appropriate action where shortcomings are identified.
Petitioners believe that an independent review is necessary to restore public confidence, ensure value for money, and confirm that the scheme delivers a safe, accessible and effective environment for all road users.
