Declarations of Interest
Mr. Penri James, representing Aberystwyth University, declared a personal and prejudicial interest in respect of four applications in which the students were studying an Equine Studies course that was franchised by Aberystwyth University. He therefore took no part in the discussion or voting thereon in respect of these applications.
The minutes of the meeting held on 11th July 2022 were confirmed as an accurate record.
We excluded the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business in accordance with Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended, on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 12 and 14 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the Act.
To consider a report by the Chief Officer for Children and Young People regarding applications received against the Trust Fund for the Academic Year 2022/23
We considered 32 applications received against the Trust Fund, presented on behalf of the Chief Officer for Children and Young People.
The Trust resolved:
(i) that awards be made to 27 of the applicants, as agreed, subject to appropriate receipts and evidence of attendance being received.
(ii) that an interim award be made to one of the applicants, as agreed, subject to appropriate receipts and evidence of attendance being received. Also, that Monmouthshire County Council’s Accounting Technician Trainee seeks further clarity from the applicant in respect of their application for funding.
(iii) that no funding be provided to one applicant as they had withdrawn from their course.
(iv) that consideration of three applications would be deferred to the January 2023 meeting of the Monmouthshire Farm School Endowment Trust as the meeting had become inquorate and could no longer consider these applications.
