There were no declarations of interest made by Members

The Chief Executive thanked Members for their attendance and explained that the purpose of the session was to appoint a Chief Officer, Resources.

We were advised that there was one internal candidate who had been interviewed by a Panel made up of the Leader, Councillor Batrouni, and Cabinet Members Murphy and Hobson on 26^th May 2016.

The unanimous view had been that Mr. Davies’s performance on the day had exceeded the benchmark employed by the Chief Executive Officer when considering appointment of a Chief Officer position. 

Members were advised that the options following the interview process would be:

      I.        To make an offer of appointment;

    II.        To determine that an offer of appointment should not be made.

The four councillors who had been part of the Panel on 26^th May 2016 provided Council with positive feedback from the interview.  Following discussion we welcomed the candidate who gave a presentation and was interviewed by the Council. The candidate was then asked to leave the chamber.

The Leader of the Council recommended that Mr. Davies be offered the position, which was seconded by the Deputy Leader.  Upon being put to the vote Members agreed unanimously with the recommendation.

Mr. Davies returned to the meeting, accepted the appointment, and was congratulated by Members.
