Update and approval of matters arising from the Action Plan - Safeguarding arrangements - Kerbcraft Scheme pdf icon PDF 164 KB

Purpose:  To receive an update and approve matters arising from implementation of the action plan approved by Council on the 20th March 2017 (appendix 2 of the report titled ‘Wales Audit Office report on safeguarding within the kerbcraft scheme in Monmouthshire County Council’).

Decision:

The Cabinet members noted the progress made against various items within the action plan reported to Council on the 20th March 2017 as listed below;

 

·         The Cabinet agree that the new procedure for the provision of kerbcraft training be approved.

 

·         The Cabinet Members have considered feedback from the select committees and decide what action they wish to take – if any.

 

·         The Cabinet agree a request from Strong Communities Select Committee that the update to the action plan be reported to Council.

 

·         The Cabinet confirm that CYP takes responsibility for the performance of the kerb craft scheme working within the overall context of the Road Safety Grant.

 

·         That Cabinet note the transfer of the kerbcraft training function and management of the school crossing patrol service to the CYP directorate.

Youth Enterprise - European Structural Fund (ESF) Programmes - Inspire2Work extension pdf icon PDF 490 KB

Purpose: Further to Cabinet approval for the implementation of the Inspire2Work (I2W) programme in March 2016, Youth Enterprise requests in principle support for additional match funding from Authority Invest to Redesign reserves.  This funding will enable the enhanced delivery of the existing I2W programme which provides post 16 support, intervention and employment opportunities utilising European Structural Fund (ESF) monies.

Decision:

Cabinet decided to approve the release of additional match funding from the Invest to Redesign reserves for the next three years to January 2020, enabling support for an additional 120 participants across an extended 18-24 age range.

 

The funding will enable the extension of the existing team to include an Employability Officer and administrative apprenticeship opportunity, both of which will be fixed term contracts until the end of the project. The Employability Officer duties will be extended to other programmes, across additional funding streams, on a timesheet basis.
