Purpose: The Learner Travel (Wales) Measure 2008 sets out the legal responsibilities

for the provision of school transport. Within the legislation they place a duty on local

authorities to review their transport policy on an annual basis. The policy needs to be

confirmed by the 1^st October for application in the following academic year.

Members will recall that it was agreed at their July meeting that consultation would

commence on the proposed policy. It was also agreed that a further report would be

provided in September to provide feedback on the consultation responses received.

That Cabinet notes the extended consultation period and delegates decision making on the proposed Transport Policy to the Cabinet Member for Education by way of an Individual Cabinet Member decision process on the 28th September 2022.
